Running Backwards
Moe and I made this movie last spring for a film contest at SLU. It pretty much went down like this. Moe and I were mainly behind the camera, filming and writing. Mike (on the far right) had to get in shape for a big race. Gio (the guy yelling at Mike) was the tough-love trainer. The image saved kind of funny from Illustrator, so the colors are a little off, but you get the main idea. Enjoy!

Space Monkey!
So it was time for a haircut. When you commonly get references to how your hair looks just like your mom's, you know it's about time. I ran into a problem though. I'm saving up to buy food and drinks to live, so I couldn't afford a super deluxe cut from a Fantastic Sam's or similar high end barber. So I did the next best thing...did it myself. And it didn't turn out half bad...First is a shot of me lookin' pretty smokin' hot with a mane of Grecian curls. Like I injected steroids into my hair.
I got halfway done and considered leaving it as a mullet. I figured this would cause a commotion with Denver's female residents (i.e. they'd be all over me and I'd have to hire several bodyguards to keep the ladies at bay). So I continued on my journey.
And this is the end product. Not too shabby. I miss my mushroom cloud of hair, but for now I at least look like I didn't just get home from a Phil Spector (below) convention.

Here it is. This is spectacular, from start to finish. I will let the clip speak for itself.

One wild night!
OK, so I recently tried out 24 Hour Fitness...but was put off when the at-the-counter-deal-guy told me they didn't lend out towels "because that's kind of gross." Also, there were just too many people there checking themselves out in the mirror, making really intense "workout" faces. I tried making an equally intense face, figuring this would somehow help me get huge, but it just made me fart a little bit. So I couldn't handle the gym and decided I'd start running on my own.
But not before I was tempted by a Frosty at Wendy's. I didn't end up getting one because...
I ended up getting a Slurpee when I got to the 7-Eleven by my house. The lady in front of me in line had to cash in her scratch tickets for a gazillion dollars, apparently, because it took forever. This finally ended when the guy next to me punched her in the head and I was able to make my purchase. So...all in all, a pretty amazing evening with very minimal exercise and much caloric intake.

The New (Movie) Deal
Matt gave me this idea, so I gotta give him credit. He said we should start doing reviews of movies on the blogs (or something along the lines of a "Go see this" and "Don't go see this" type of deal). And so, I take that first amazing step and decided to give the rundown on three new movies. Keep in mind I have not seen any of these and will rank them based on trailers, reviews, word of mouth, and my general feeling about what I've heard or seen.
1) We Own the Night: From the looks of it, this movie is trying to be this year's Departed...but boring and with more Robert Duvall. The trailer screams out for recognition ("Academy Award Nominees Mark Wahlberg and Johnny Cash, Academy Award Winner Robert Duvall!"), but for some reason it just doesn't look that enthralling. And Chris and Geenie said it was boring and they walked out to go see...
2) Michael Clayton: In this movie, George Clooney plays a man who lounges around on Tom Wilkinson's couch, thus making Tom Wilkinson very angry. He spends most of the movie staring angrily at Clooney through the window. Clooney, meanwhile, looks pensive and tries to decide if he wants Arby's or a triple stacker at Wendy's, the latter for which he has a coupon. I actually don't really know what the movie is about. Chris and Geenie explained it and I got a little confused which probably means it's a pretty good movie for an older crowd interested in law, chemical pesticides, crooked business practices, lawsuits, and George Clooney in suits. Who shouldn't see it? Probably Dad as I assume there are some leftist politics at play. I don't know what tipped me off, but I'd put money on it.
And finallly...
3) The Final Season: Witness everyone's favorite slightly-swishy hobbit coach a small town baseball team! Is he down on his luck? Sure! Is the only thing keeping this town together the high school baseball team? Of course! Is the team a group of rag tag misfits? Would we have it any other way? Have you seen this a million times before? Sure have! I am being cynical and I usually do end up liking these types of movies, Remember the Titans, namely...but this has Samwise and no Denzel in sight. That may be a problem.

Flight of the Conchords
One of my new favorite shows is HBO's "Flight of the Conchords". If you haven't seen it, you should check it out. This comedy is about two musicians from New Zealand who are now living in New York. This is a drawing of the show's main characters: band manager Murray on the left, Bret in the center, and his bandmate Jemaine on the right.
